HARLOW’S MP, Robert Halfon, has secured a further £435,000 to support Harlow Council to deliver vital services through the winter. This comes on top of the over £1 million that has already been given to Harlow Council from the £5.7bn coronavirus package for Councils from the Government.
Commenting on the announcement, Mr Halfon said: “I have been lobbying the Government every single day for more financial support for our town. So far, we have seen a financial package for Harlow worth over £130 million to help businesses, protect jobs and support our community.
“This funding will help Harlow Council to deliver many vital services throughout the winter and I will continue to do all I can to help residents through this time.”
Communities Secretary, Robert Jenrick MP, said: “Since the start of the pandemic, we have backed local councils with the funding they need to support their communities, protect vital services and recover lost income.
“This extra £1 billion funding will ensure that councils have the resources that they need over the winter and continue to play an essential role on the front line of our response to the virus while protecting the most vulnerable and supporting local businesses.”
Harlow Conservatives leader, Cllr Andrew Johnson said: “Today, the Government has announced even further funding to support our council – showing their commitment to our town. I want to pay tribute to our MP, Robert Halfon, the Prime Minister and the Chancellor for their ongoing support for our local businesses, council and residents.”
